Four Tips to Reach Your Weight Loss Goals

With the holidays approaching, many people start thinking about losing or maintaining their weight. With so many fad diets out there, how do you determine the safest and most effective way to get healthier and more active? Follow these tips, provided by Herbalife Nutrition’s online resources, and you’ll be feeling your best no time.

  1. Don’t skip breakfast.

There’s a reason why people say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Eating breakfast jump-starts your metabolism and sets you up for a healthier pattern of eating throughout the day. Skipping breakfast can lead to a binge later on in the day.

  1. Eat snacks.

No, that doesn’t mean diving into a quart of rocky road or ordering a pizza. Sensible snacks can be incorporated into any diet. It’s all about balance. Snacks can fill in nutritional gaps, satisfy your sweet tooth, and tide you over until dinner.

  1. Add more greens into your diet.

Many people hate kale, spinach, and other green vegetables, but there are ways that you can get the nutritional benefits without the taste. The best way is to blend your greens into a protein or meal replacement shake. Or add greens to a sandwich and top it with a dollop of low-fat mayo. If you love soup, add some greens to your favorite soup recipes; replace the beans in chili with chard, or sub ground turkey for ground beef to reduce fat and calories even more.

  1. Don’t eat late at night.

It’s 8:00 p.m., and you’re starting to feel hunger pangs while watching your favorite show. This is the time when you’re most likely to open the cookie jar. Eating late at night can put you over your calorie limit for the day. It can also increase episodes of heartburn and interrupt your sleep. Instead of reaching for an unhealthy snack, drink water and do some stretching. If you still feel hungry, try something small, like a protein bar.

You don’t have to change your life completely to lose weight. Small changes are easier to sustain and provide lasting results.
