When it comes to your vision, how much care do you put into it? You may think that your eyes are forever, but as we get older, we quickly find that this isn’t the case.

You want to do your very best to take care of your eyes as well as your vision, because the effort that you put in will make sure that you are maintaining your vision in a healthy way. This includes exercise and diet as well as taking care of your eyes by shielding them from the sun and UV rays with sunglasses that are designed to protect your eyes from sensitive reactions to Ultra Violet light as well as wearing sun blocking hats.

You also want to be sure that you are going to see Dartmouth optometrists on a regular basis. At least once a year, you should be going in for an appointment and getting your vision checked. Perhaps you will find that your vision remains the same and you don’t need to update your glasses or contacts; or you may find out that your vision has changed slightly and wearing the same prescription is going to strain your eyesight.

Today we’re discussing how you can take care of your vision and make sure that your eyes are being given the loving tender care that they need. Even though we may take our eyes for granted, it’s important to give them just as much protection and maintenance as we do for our skin, our teeth, and our bodies in general.

How to Take Care of Your Eyes and Your Vision

Taking care of your vision can be tough, especially if you don’t really know what to do. Some people go through life and try to compensate for not going to Dartmouth optometrists or eye doctors in their area by picking out their own prescription or what they think it is through drugstore eyeglasses or ‘readers’. The truth is that you need eyeglasses in Dartmouth that are professionally verified as the right prescription for you.

Even though you may feel that you don’t really need to visit an eye doctor to get eyeglasses in Dartmouth or your area, the truth is that you need to have an accurate prescription in order to avoid straining your eyesight. This means that if you haven’t been to your optometrist in over a year, it may be time to book that appointment.

You can also take good care of your eyes by having good habits. Try not to spend more than an hour a day looking at a bright light via a phone, computer, or tablet. Don’t strain your eyes by spending too much time exposing them to blue tinted light either.

You should also not be squinting and protecting your eyes from the sun while driving or outdoors. If you are having trouble with your sight, see an eye doctor immediately. Taking care of your vision is a constant process. Be sure to take your contacts out at night to increase air flow to the eyes and prevent infection and make sure that your prescription is up to date and you should be just fine.
